Weeks ago, I asked a question about cats being friends. Sadly, on Monday morning my cats best friend, Leo, was killed by a speeding driver. He was a sweetheart but not the brightest bulb. On multiple occasions I found him sitting in the road sleeping and moved him myself. Rip Leo[emoji]128148[/emoji]

Anyways, my boy, Orlando has been very clingy lately. He has been sitting by me more then often and is just sleeping. Can cats show grief? Is he suffering and missing Leo? I don't want him to be sad.

Cats certainly can grieve.  They can also pick up on our feelings and grieve with us.

Did Leo live with you?

Yes they certainly can, when our cat's brother died she became very quiet but with the introduction of a new cat to the family she became more happy

Hope Orlando is okay

a few years ago, even though my cat is spayed she has

picked up a boyfriend in the neighborhood.

often he would come around mewing for her and she would trot out to be with him.

I once saw him pull food from a picnic table and give it to her.

he too was run down by a driver.

she walked around the yard for almost a week just meowing / cat-calling him.

then she got all quiet and mopy and in about 3 weeks from his disappearance she returned to normal.

yes, cats can mourn.

they have feelings.  it's that simple.

(anything that can be scared has all the other feelings)

Yes they can mourn and cat's are real sensitive to emotion and change. sorry about your
