In the bathroom only..?

When I let Eva run around the living room, she'll run away from me if I try to pick her up or even just pet her. But when I put her in the bathroom and close the door (this is where her food, water, bed, and litter box is) she wants to rub on me and purrs when I pet her and will press her nose against mine.

Why sudden changes in her behavior in different rooms of the house?

How long has Eva been with you? How old is she? Did you move to a new house?
Eva probably feels more secure in the bathroom where most of the things she needs are and perhaps where she spends most of her time in?
I suggest you let her explore other parts of the house without you approaching her or trying to pet her. You could give her treats or place her favorite toys around the house to tell her that everything is okay. In time, Eva will be fine anywhere in the house.

That makes sense! I've only had her for a couple of weeks and we keep her in the bathroom when I go to work and at night. But she is let out when someone is home.
