Hi all. I just thought I'd update about Butters.
We finished the antibiotic about a week ago. We've been on the Lysine for about 2 weeks now. And the Feliway has been plugged in for about a week, although it occured to me that this was silly, since he can't smell (it really hasn't made any difference).
I'm sad to report that he's starting to get worse again. As with the previous two antibiotics, once we stopped this one, his symptoms returned. He's starting the coughing, the sneezing, and the stuffy nose all over again.
I'm trying to be patient and let the Lysine work, but it's so hard to watch him suffer. I don't understand why the antibiotics all appear to work, but then as soon as he stops the treatment, he gets worse again. I'm trying to give it another two weeks, but if he gets much worse, I'm going to have to call the vet (even though there's not really anything that can be done). I just feel so uncomfortable watching him get worse without seeing a vet.
I did start him on the Bene-Bac today...although I'm not sure if that will really have any effect on this if it's FHV.
In other news, he's gone downstairs a few times with us, and had some short interactions with both of the other cats. The big boy doesn't seem to care one way or the other, and let him sleep in the window perch with him for a while, but Rosalita doesn't enjoy him. There were no blow-outs...and we just basically had him sleep on the couch while we watched TV with all of the cats in the room. Little doses.
