This is a quick post as I have to be out the door in a minute but I just got home a bit ago from picking Burlington up from the vet. A quick rundown of what I can remember, he may possibly have a chronic nasal discharge, time will tell. He's on an oral liquid (thank goodness, I hate pilling cats!) antibiotic for 10 days, and the vet wants him back for a shot of something I can't remember in a couple weeks and then every 3-4 months after that for a while to try to kick it. I'll need to take Trevor in to be vaccinated for calcivirus as well.
But he seems to be feeling WAY better. The vet said he was eating everything they gave him and wanted more. He whined and complained the whole way home in the car. And right now he's actually grooming himself, which he has not done since I got him. He's still got that really chill attitude and doesn't care that Trevor is mad all over again and hissing and growling at him. haha Trevor just walked in the living room and gave me a dirty look but at least he's still "speaking" to me (rubbed against my legs). He was REALLY mad at me when I first brought Burlington home!
He's still sneezy but he doesn't act like a sick kitty who doesn't feel good.
I have to go for now but if any of you have dealt with calcivirus, please let me know your personal experiences with it. I've really never had a cat have more than a minor little illness before, so I've not dealt with anything like this before. I'll be doing a lot of reading later today!
Oh and I was very surprised with the bill, in a good way. the grand total for 2 days in the hospital and about two dozen items on the bill was $166! I get paid every other week, and they let me pay $75 today and are holding a check for the balance to be deposited next week when I get paid. Which means I don't have to eat PB sandwiches every day this coming week! Yay! Because, yeah, I'd eat PB sandwiches while my boys put away about $4 worth of cat food a day.
