My kitty Ailith is 11 months oldand has a few things we have always just written off until we got another kitty, Baird, in july and he didnt have the same issues.
Baird is 3 months younger than her at 8mo currently, and almost bigger. Our roomates have a kitten a month or 2 younger than Baird who is also almost as big as Ailith.
Her size isnt necessarily our concern, its a few other anatomical doformities and sensitivies.
1) Her chest cavity/ribcage stick out significantly more than the other cats in the house. We first thought it was because she is femal but her sternum protrudes when she is sitting or loafing.
2)She has a slightly shortened snout with a bump in her nose bridge which we assume is the cause of her constant runny nose/allergies.
3)Her vision isnt awful, but when playing, focusing (like when hunting a bug or other cats), or even sniffing your hand for a treat it is obvious she cant quite see fully. My guess is nearsighted because she will run into your hand for a treat when sniffing or hit the toy when trying to attack, etc. When focusing, she does what we call he "pirate eye" in which she closes one eye to focus better, making me suspect an astigmatism.
And what has recently concerned me is the other night while sleeping on my lap she had a seizure then passed out for about a minute or so.
She is a tortie and we got her from the shelter, so her exact breed influences are unknown, just wondering if anyone has an idea? My mother thought persian inluences because of her short snout and nasal problems, but we are unsure.
