So Boo the stray cat that arrived on my deck with a broken pelvis has finished his 3rd week of quiet time recovery. It will be 4 weeks next weekend!
He seems to have settled into a routine of rest in his little room and selects either his purr pad by the closet door or the purr pad underneath the computer desk. The feliway diffuser I think might be helping with his general sense of mellow.
He has a fantastic appetite and his belly is no longer tight feeling. He's urinating a normal amount. The pooping is occurring but he is still producing mostly the balls of poo, indicating that the stools are still harder than they should be. He's had a few normal appearing stools as well.
I mix some water with his canned food and add the miralax which is keeping things regular. I'm also using a rubber bristle hair brush to massage his sides and tummy which seem to help get things moving along. We have learned that he has quite the palate. Wellness Core chicken and the duck, Evo duck, Merrick's Grammy's Pot Pie and Cowboy BBQ.
His gait has greatly improved and if we didn't have the x-rays to show otherwise, one would never know he was healing from a broken pelvis (3 breaks).
He's a fastidious litter box user and a sweet little guy.
Next week I'm out of town for a week, and the fella will take over Boo watch as well as managing the rest of the herd. After that, we'll take him back to the vet for more x-rays and the neuter and shots they should have done rather than assuming I'd just put him down.
The other cats come to the door to sniff. Simone softly hissed at the door but didn't today. Boo seems indifferent to the cats at the door.
We played a light game of cord today. He batted around a shoe lace with his front paws. Then let me rub his belly.
