BLAH! Brown nosers at work

Ugh! I think I can see why the receptionist is still working here after downsizing. (She does NOTHING, but answer phones, and places labels on inventory. I've been told she screws up christmas cards...places 2 in one envelope, 0 in another).

She will flirt with key people in the company (managers, owner, owners sons, etc). It's really disgusting.
For example I'm walking by her area the other day and heard her saying to the owners son how handsome he looks in his suit...but she prefers the "scruffy look" he normally sports.

Another example is I was working on the other son's Outlook issue, and he wasn't around. A new message appeared with the subject line "Flirt with Me, I need it"

I'm glad to have brains.

Our receptionists is like that too! Her job is to do the time, which she screws up regularly, answer the phones when some one is out, which she rarely does, and make sure that the job postings for new positions within the company are up to date and little things like that. She can't do it!! She is a flirt and according to some of us she has to either pour herself into her disco clothes or someone paints them on her every morning!

I've seen a lot of women do that in workplaces. Sadly, they usually get time off whenever they want with no question as to why, and are generally placed on a pedestal compared to others around them who work ten times as hard. Sometime I wish people thought with their brains more.

You two are more intelligent, especially next to this girl! It's 60 outside right now, our receptionist walked in and said it's just like Florida outside.
Huh?! Isn't FL a little warmer?

Some of here though (me especially) think this girl knows more then what she's letting on. The company went through layoffs two years ago, and somehow she got skipped over (even though we can turn our phone system into an automated one and all the managers know this). She confuses lines all the time (so you pick up someone else's calls).

Overall its a good laugh, but the brown nosing just totally disgusted me when I heard it. I think the bread has enough butter on it...

The girl (Disco Girl) I work wit hshould have been fired for having and inter office affair which is a BIG NO NO here and was instead cut some slack and transfered to my office.

It won't be until they get someone competent in that position that they will question why they let it happen for so long. I'm the competent one following a long line of front desk workers who couldn't tell their rear end from a hole in the ground. I've seen the mess they left behind (and have fixed it!). These chicks couldn't even figure out how to do an outline in Word. They were so bad at doing edits in documents (one of the primary duties for this position) that a lot of the engineers did it themselves instead of sending out horrible documents. One of the previous one actually was on PORN SITES all day, every day at the front desk!!

And they didn't fire her for that! And I know what kind of nasty sites they were because I got the porn spam for about 2 years after I started.

Of course, the good thing is that because I'm following a long line of incompetence, they LOVE me!

Totally understand! My boss (for now) was telling me about some of the raunchy stuff her friends and her would send to each other...ON WORK EMAIL. She eventually got that and the internet taken away from her. The Engineers use the term HBS - Headboard Banging Syndrome - with her.

The thing with her though is that I think its just an act to get out of doing a lot of work and keep a job. She was telling me that she use to be certified in Physical Therapy and got laid off back in 98. They offered her the same pay she was getting in PT and has worked her since (getting raises and bonuses and such).
If it is an act, you gotta hand it to her, she's doing good for herself. Still though the Owner's sons are NOT attractive in anyway. In fact one of them really just creeps me out!
