"if the flea dirt test is negative, that these black spots are particles of hardened skin oils which have come to the surface of the skin. My cat has these all the time, and they're harmless. He's also part calico (mom was calico), and his coloring is orange and white. He has these black spots frequently around his nipples, and they just seem to be hyper-pigmentation on his skin. Orange and white cats and Calicos are more prone to these 'freckles' or hyper-pigmentation--just extra melanin (coloring in the skin)."
Well isn't that interesting! I have a calico, but I've never seen anything like that on her. Maybe it only happens on the orange and white cats, NOT the calicos. From http://www.justanswer.com/pet-cat/104ib-cat-tiny-dark-spots-abdomen-this.html"if the flea dirt test is negative, that these black spots are particles of hardened skin oils which have come to the surface of the skin. I'm sorry. But please do not listen to this advice. It is impossible for a cat to be "calico" especially a male! It is simply just a color of fur not a cat breed. Calicos and tortishells are female only!
I don't think anyone said that Calico was a breed? I've actually met a male Calico.. it's not impossible but it is rare.I'm sorry. But please do not listen to this advice. Yes. Orange cats are prone to skin pigmentation. Mostly around the eyes and mouth.
I had to chime in. That calico comment was driving me bananas.
