Leave out chew toys maybe? A bed that she can scratch on? A cat gave birth on my porch 2014. One of her kittens disappeared at 5 weeks then came back 2 yrs old. I took her in. She chews my bracelet and sometimes bites me while shes doing that in a nice way. Maybe your kitten was separated too early?
Just a bunch of ideas.
Yes she was 2 or 3 weeks old.. But her mom left her unfortunately :-(

Chewy has a large selection of amazing cat trees that are also quite affordable: Cat Trees & Condos - Free shipping at Chewy.com

If you're short on space, I'd reccommend something like this: Trixie 4 Piece Wall-Mounted Cat Lounging Set You'll Love | Wayfair

There are also cat trees that look like high-end furniture: Banish the Ugly Beige Carpet: Check Out These Cool Cat Trees | Catster

You could even get an exercise wheel! Cat Exercise Wheel

The possibilities for creating an entertaining environment for your kitty are endless!
Thank you.. I have already have 2 cat tree.. As I told you , it is hard to change this habit.. I guess I should just be ok to be bitten

Perhaps consider adopting an older full grown young cat to teach her some manners and be a good companion for you? Many 1-5 year old previously neutered/spayed house cats are abandoned (cruelly by their owners!) You would be giving 2 cats a loving home they both need. Also if you work with a no kill shelter you can try fostering the cat for 3-6 months and if it works out you adopt the cat.

Over acting OW OW OW and then ignoring said cat for 10-15 minutes (stopping all play time) works with kittens. It just takes time and months. Meanwhile if she doesn't stop and you can drown out the instant meowing/door rattling you can lock her out of your room at night until she calms down ... however I recommend just grinning and bearing it. You = security, it would be a shame to deprive her of that while you sleep.

Please tell us how it works out :)
I have 8 months old cat, but she is hissing at her, and she doesn't like her.. The older cat is hiding when kitten is around lol.. I guess I am going to vet an other kitten.. thank you so much

No, you should not accept this habit. It will only get worse. As others have said, continue to play as much as possible and really help her burn some energy. Also, redirect every time she bites. Carry around a toy she can wrestle with, and hiss and walk away when she bites out of nowhere.

Jackson Galaxy, cat behaviorist extraordinaire and host of Animal Planet's "MY CAT FROM HELL" as well as author of several books including CAT DADDY, would echo most of the other posters' suggestions and say NO HANDS. Absolutely do not play with your kitten with hands, or your kitten will think it's fine to pounce on them! Always keep a toy between your kitten and your hands -- interactive toys such as da Bird are great for this. Or throw a catnip toy or a small soft ball. Definitely the cat trees and scratching pads and posts are "musts", and the best suggestion of all is definitely run, don't walk to get another cat AND/or kitten!

A friend of mine adopted a 1 yr old cat for her kitten. For a few weeks she had to keep the 2 cats separate.
Now they get along.

Sounds like she's playing/learning/boredom, even possible love bites and/or kneading (comforting to her and her way of loving/cuddling with you) OR getting ready to start teething.. Here is a site I found that may help you.. I also would make sure to have 2-3 play times you can use to tire her out (with toys on wand or out of reach of your skin or hands) and/or toys you can throw to her, etc.. Cat toys are necessity, and toys she can "wrestle" with like she would her littermate (and that's not your hand), her own cat space (where she can run, hide, etc alone.. And helpful if radio/tv on low for "white noise" for comfort/distraction.. Definitely spaying, update shots, etc.. (Shelters usually offer free first visit with adoption- or vets will offer free office exam for new furry children) or shelters have clinic available for lower cost and some based on area you live, kitten "seasons", income, etc.. I agree with other comments adopting another sibling for her may not be a bad idea, to help Teach proper manners, socialize, etc.. However, there are no guarantees cats will bond quickly, or other cat will teach her what you're needing her to learn (I think its highly likely would be positive and benefit overall, but slight chance may not prevent kitten from future behaviors..) Also using aromatherapy with natural oils that can be plugged in to outlet (away from young child's reach) or battery-operated, and natural alternatives for cats as treats or mixed with food to help minimize arousal/negative behaviors.. (Although kitten behavior is mainly learned from mother and littermate so not really "negative" normally if in that environment).. My heart goes out to you for giving her love and a home, and hoping all of our suggestions will help.. (There are also "animal behavior specialists" you can write or call that may offer more assistance (free or low-cost) and books available/videos to learn proper techniques and other ideas.. For sure separate kitten from yourself & your family when sleeping or before any known "trigger" times, etc.. If she's injuring you and upsetting your husband. I'm not sure "time-out" is understood for an animal and wondering if may cause future biting for attention and may be a stimuli (others in this group will know more than I do)? Best of luck to you & your furry little 1.. ;) Site is Teach Your Kitten How to Play Nice : The Humane Society of the United States="neff, post: 4279243, member: 119606"]Hello, my 6 weeks old kitten is jumping and biting us and scratching us even if we are sleeping. I guess she doesn't know that it hurts.. we tried 'time out' , 'say no loudly' , make her busy with toys but unfortunately nothing works.. I put her outside of our bedroom and closed the door because she bit my husband's month and he was sleeping. He was mad at her.. I want her to sleep with us but before she sleeps she bites and scratches a lot. What should I do? Please help![/QUOTE]

Not sure if this will help but torties are the divas of cat world I think.. Very unique attitudes and my tortie was mix between overly sensitive/picky/perfectionist.. Loved her sassiness though.. It helped her to have "batting" toys and "wrestling" toys (she could swat away at something other than my head.. And wrestle with something else other than my feet.. They worked like a charm.. And if I ignored any moments she forgot my hair wasn't a toy, she was less likely to do it again.. They hate being ignored.. And in my experience torties very "vocal" with their paws.. They use their paws to talk.. Haha.. Best of luck..
Finally, someone who understands lazer pointers are bad. They have to be able to get 'the prize'.

I have 6 week old kittens. The tortie is a terror. Her favorite moves are
1) climb up my arm or back to my neck and attack my hair tie.
2) use my foot as a cat scratcher
I am constantly scruffing her, telling her 'no' and putting her on either the cat tree or cat scratcher. She doesn't care. She just attacks her sisters then comes back to me for more. She has clawed my face more than once while climbing to my neck.
I'm hoping that she'll calm down a little when she's older.
I'll keep my eyes on this thread so if you figure out how to stop it, I will learn too.

By now, the tortie has gone to her new home. I still have her sisters, which I planned on adopting from the start. They are now 7 months. But I will keep in mind the 'tortitude' if I ever get one. Thanks

It's good you did. I've been meaning to ask the OP how the kitten is doing, but I just now tried the name and it doesn't come up.
Guess he/she is no longer a member.
