Best Time To Get A Second Cat?

Hello, we adopted a male kitten about three months ago (he's almost 7 month old now) and I know that a second cat is in our future and I was wondering when is the best time to get one? Should we hurry while our cat is still young and should I wait until he's older? Should I get small kitten or an older cat? Thank you!

If you're ready for another cat, I think that around now would be a good time to adopt one. Two kittens will usually learn to get along faster than when they're older cats.

Differences in activity level can lead to problems. So the percentages are strongly in favor of doing it now, rather than waiting a few years when your resident cat may be less active and have a problem with an energy crazed kitten.
