This post is about cat food...so I hope it's okay here.
If you're new to owning a cat(s) and your cat(s) is/are picky, then it might be best not to stock up on food, even to try to take advantage of cheaper prices online...I've noticed that every single time I stock up on food, my cat immediately stops eating that food. ?_?
It started with her Iams kitten pate, which was the only wet food I could get her to eat at first. I ordered some online to get a cheaper price. It arrived and then kitty didn't want it anymore. Same with the two Fancy Feasts she was eating. Same with Nutro Natural Choice, I think, except I had stocked up on some from the store, so was able to return them unless they're hiding in one of my cabinets that I forgot about...Same with her Orijen cat & kibble. When the 5 lbs bag was running low, I ordered a 15 lbs bag and the bag was barely open before kitty didn't want any anymore. =/ That one wasn't her "fault" though because she got ill and was introduced to Hill's Science Diet kitten kibble at the vet specialist's office, but after that, she didn't want any Orijen cat & kitten kibble anymore. =/ After ordering different 12 oz. sample sizes of the other Orijen and Acana kibble that she didn't have, I got her to start eating Orijen Regional Red after she barely ate for a couple days when I took away the Hill's kitten kibble to get her off of it. She was turning down all the wet food cans I gave her, despite attempts to crumble treats on top or put Fortiflora or crumble a Vet's Best tablet on top. Also, she basically turned down the Primal Raw freeze-dried foods in several different flavors and also Stella & Chewy freeze-dried raw. She was interested, but then didn't eat it.
So she was eating Orijen Regional Red happily as the flavor she picked out of the 5 (yes, 5) varieties of dry kibble that were out after she must have gotten hungry enough to stop holding out for Hill's kitten kibble...but when the Regional Red ran out, she barely ate despite the 4 other kibbles that were out, so I ordered a 15 lbs bag to get it cheaper online and ran to the store to buy more sample size bags until it arrived. When I brought the sample size Orijen Regional Red home, she started eating again, but when the huge 15 lbs bag finally arrived, of course, picky kitty suddenly switched to eating the Acana Grasslands kibble that is out and is just grazing on the Orijen Regional Red now that she has a huge supply.
*sigh* So now I have purchased a third 15 lbs bag that is on the way...I just bought the Acana Grasslands which is what she is into right now. I feel like each time I try to stock up though, I curse myself because then kitty stops eating that food...what strangeness. ?_?
Btw, I'm storing the 15 lbs bags in 10 lbs airtight pet food containers (Boots & Barkley from Target) after removing ~ 5 lbs so that the rest of the bag fits into the airtight container to keep the kibble from getting stale (hopefully), although my kitty will still eat stale kibble that's been left out for a very long time...(different flavor she's not into that's in a separate bowl that she later decides she wants to eat...)
