I love cats, have had them most of my adult life. I'm 64, and my neighbor begged me to rescue a cat at Petsmart. She couldn't, she has 5 cats already! The cat was around 8 years old, named Bella, declawed, had only had one pair of People Parents her entire life. They decided to divorce, neither wanted Bella, and so the wife just dropped her off at Petsmart last July, where she languished as an older, declawed cat. I saw a paper on her cage saying something about "rear leg turnout deformity", and sure enough, Bella's left rear leg turns sharply outward. She's had to be an athlete as another "rescue," a big baby with talons of steel, who can kill you at a glance but thinks she's a little baby, comes after Bella when she's on the floor. It's now been over 3 months, Bella just stays up on the cabinets, the table, etc. But I notice in the last week that both her rear legs have lost their fur on the back where they must contact the carpet and floor. She's being bitten/scratched more in this area by Kali the cat of Hades, and her hindquarters are sore whenever I touch them. She appears to be leaning more on her front legs for strength, and I'm really worried. Any ideas, folks? I love my babies!
