Our 4 year old male cat Dude has been on a diet for the last year because he was quite over weight and was at risk of being diabetic later in life. Recently he has put on quite a bit of weight again but we're still sticking to his diet plan.
We think he is being fed somewhere else, we had this problem with previous cats where a neighbour had fed them. He isn't deprived of food and gets the amount he needs, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't refuse food from other people.
My mum also suggested that he could possibly be going into people houses and actually stealing other cats food.
We can't really keep him inside because he is out a majority of the time and would make too much of a fuss.
We're thinking of making flyers saying "Please do not feed this cat" but i've heard that can't be very effective. He usually stays inside during late Autumn/Winter so it shouldn't be a problem then, but until then Does anyone else have any ideas?
[I was unsure where to put this topic, so if it is in the wrong forum I apologize.]
