Do any of you have one? I am considering it for the kitchen, have to go look at it at lumber liquidators. any advice?
Here is a site that gives excellent information on all types of flooring. There is an extensive area on bamboo flooring:Most bamboo flooring uses urea formaldehyde as a binder or adhesive, which produces a negligible amount of airborne formaldehyde.
I'd still use it. If one is doing their best to be ecologically conscious, and chooses bamboo because of it's sustainability, I would think they would be conscious of the formaldehyde issue and do their research. I know I will when the time comes... in fact my dream house is going to be all recycled materials... or sustainable like the bamboo... now i just need to make enough money to buy the land and build the house!!Originally Posted by Natalie_ca
Personally I would stay clear of bamboo flooring. Urea Formadehyde is used as a binder. (snipped)
I just spend quite some time researching what wood floors to get. I considered bamboo but I didn't like the light, natural color. I read that the darker colors are acheived by "carbonizing" the bamboo which makes it much less hard than the natural colored bamboo. I was concerned about how easily the kitties would scratch it.Originally Posted by gailuvscats
