Hello, I saw this morning that my cat had this patch of skin missing from his inner hind leg. I never see him licking there and he plays a bit rough with his brother. He is 11 months old and has not acted differently at all. He still using his litter box regularly, eats regular and plays normal. I believe he may have played too rough with his brother but the spot also looks a bit red and irritated. Something his butthole smells but it doesn’t last more than a day but I was told that that may not be normal, I felt like that may be important to include. Should I be worried and take him to a vet soon or wait and see if it improves? Thank you for any help!

Hi! Is he eating, drinking water and using the litter box normally? Are his poops normal and not runny? Is he getting canned food?

Sometimes the food can cause gassiness, but if he's fairly frequently smelly and is having poop issues he may need a food brand transition. If that doesn't make a difference he probably should go in to a vet.

Can you send the photo of that wound to you vet and ask them what they think?
