My dh got a text from his sister in CA on Thursday. Their precious Anatolian Shepherd, Bagel, was in the ER vet due to vomiting, feeling bad. Bagel was old for a big guy, 15 years, and had been having health issues more frequently the last few years. Last night we got another text: Bagel had been diagnosed with splenic cancer and was PTS so he would not suffer.
Bagel was a great dog. He'd followed my BIL, Martin, home years ago, and although they tried to find his owner, one was never found. He and my SIL adopted him, and later found another stray, Muffin. Those dogs became their children, and had great lives--visiting dog parks, going to dog-friendly vacation spots, spending weekends in the mountains, etc.
Bagel was a lover of bananas, and ate one almost every morning. He was a gentle giant, and deeply bonded to his family. He leaves behind his fursister Muffin, his mom Matet and dad Martin, and grandparents Ben and Lou, all from California.
RIP Bagel Boy. You are missed.
