Baby Stealing

My cat had kittens late March but they died at 3 weeks of age. Now my mom's sister just had 3 babies and my cat keeps stealing one of them. The thing is, she isn't trying to nurse it or mother it --- she just leaves it in another room by a window and stays away from it. I thought well maybe she thinks it's her lost kitten but she doesn't act that way. She just leaves it where she puts it. It's becoming really annoying. How can I put a stop to this so she does not accidentally kill my other cats new babies?

malkie ...I'm so sorry that your cat's kittens died, so young.
The only thing that you can really do right now, is make sure that your cat has no access to the new kittens.
She'll have to be kept away, until the kittens are older, and can defend themselves.

Is your cat spayed, now? This will help her not to have her hormones driving her actions.

Unfortunately the new mommies cat's kittens died the day before yesterday. It looks like she might have laid on them and squished them. :-( :-(

Do you plan to spay both moms now? Do you have a low-cost clinic in your area?
