My cat has tentatively been diagnosed with asthma. Her main symptom is vomiting up her food immediately after eating. She also has a typical asthmatic cough which sounds like she is coughing up a hairball except with out producing anything.
She sometimes has diarrhea. All symptoms go away when she is given steroids. She has been tested for heartworm disease and was negative for fiv/felv.
My vet thought this was consistent with asthma (as for the vomiting and coughing). The diarrhea only occurs very rarely so it may be something she ate.
She also has pica and is known for eating paper.
Does these symptoms sound consistent with asthma? Or is it possible she has ibd as well as asthma?
I realize ibd is a diagnosis of exclusion and treatment is the same for both. How common is vomiting with asthma?
