I'm normally the last person to ask for prayers or any of that sort of thing. Here, I went out last night to a Gaelic Storm show and had a blast. I woke up this morning to an email from a friend from school. We were best friends in elementary school and remained good friends until adulthood. He joined the military, I went to college. You can probably guess where this is going.
Well, we started emailed each other a few months back, sporadically, but still enough to keep the friendship going. Friends, nothing more. Well, I hadn't heard from him in a while and figured he was still in the US.
Wrong. He's back in Iraq near Baghdad. He's already been there a couple times, so I was surprised to hear he'd been sent back again. In his email, he talks about the rocket grenades (the enemy have really bad aim) and car bombs (very good aim), so now I'm naturally worried for him. He's that close to it all.
I don't agree with the war, but I'm for the troops... I just hope he comes back to the States in one piece.
So, no matter what your stance is on the war in Iraq, could you ask whomever you pray to or worship (I'm Christian, but I respect all faiths) to watch over Michael and his unit? Thanks.
I was tired from the concert last night, but now I'm wide awake. Finding out a good lifelong friend is in daily danger of a car bomb attack is a very sobering thought.
