Being 17, going on 18, Sandy has arthritis in her back leggs.
She's started out with Shots, and ten started on "Nutramax Dasuquin".
After the once a week of the shots for 8 weeks, we went to one shot every 5 weeks.
She started having problems again, so we're now getting a shot every 2 weeks.
2 kibbles of "Dasuquin" every day mixed with her dry food.
She doesn't like wet food.
She seems to be doing much better.
Walking much better.
I think she still has some pain, but she works through it.
I've been putting up steps for her to get up to her spots.
She just can't get using them to get down.
Still jumps.
For an old girl, she doing the best she can.

Hi
Do you have a "bed" of a wool shirt or blanket, for the warmth that she might like?

When our girl got older and her arthritis really started affecting her, we purchased electric pet bed warmers and a heated bed for her. Those helped and our other cats like them, too.

She doesn't seem to like heating pads when it's warm.
When it's cold she'll sleep on a warming blanket.
She's always been a strange cat.
Probably spoiled.

What are the shots she is getting? There is a newer product called Solensia which are monthly injections to help combat arthritis pain. Feeby (18+ yo) has arthritis and has been on one or another joint supplement for several years now, but eventually has ended up refusing to eat any of them. She received her first injection 10/3, and I do believe I am seeing a slight improvement in her mobility. I've read different articles on more than one injection being needed to attain the best results.

Feeby also has make-shift steps to use to go up and down from some of her favorite perches. What I found that worked best were sturdy boxes - larger than the traditional steps they make for pets - so that she can actually 'rest' on each step before moving on. I think these steps are what helped her get used to using them to get down from higher spots. She walks up the steps normally and now that she has used them frequently, she is more inclined to walk down them as opposed to stopping for a second on each step.

my cat will be 19 yo next mo. she has diagnosed arthritis. couldnt jump , rarely tucked. it was painful to see. she recently had her 3rd(monthly) shot of new drug Solensia. i saw improvement after the first one. after the second one, i woke up to her sleeping on the foot of my bed! what a joy! she has had no side effects. it is a nerve blocker? not a cure but to see her jumping and running again gives me more pleasure than it probably gives her! she's baaaaaaaaack!
