I was disgusted when I got the email, it was beanie babies to match your new pet

Suggestion: Gift certificate.

Have the person buy a gift certificate for the cost of the adoption fee. Then the recipent can adopt the pet; or, if s/he doesn't want the pet, can cash in the certificate or offer it as a donation to your shelter.

No, our local shelter actually REDUCES prices off of the animals, and has a ad in the paper as "christmas special"
The only time I know they "stop" adoptions is near halloween...

We offer gift certificates and the people can attach a cheque made out to us etc but we don't accept payment up front in case, for any reason, the adopter is not approved
