Are These Plants Poisonous To Cats?

I received two plants from a family member but I’m not sure what they are and whether they’re poisonous to cats. Help?

Hi! That second one on the bottom with the big variegated leaves is a dieffenbachia, I think, --and a nice one, also called dumbcane. According to vetstreet, the ASPCA and petpoisonhelpline, it is toxic to felines. I'm sorry!

The top one resembles an agalonema. Both plants contain calcium oxalate crystals which cause throat irritation, and vomiting. Not usually lethal but will make them ill.

The stalk of the first one looks a bit like bamboo but I'm not sure from that picture. I know lucky bamboo is toxic but that doesn't mean that is what it is. The leaves look to broad for it.

If in doubt, throw it out Or at least put it in a place where the cat can't get to.
