There are some breeds of cats, like Maine Coons, who are not afraid to get into the shower with you and get wet. My late mom's cat? Oh, boy. He was one yard long, long haired, 42 pounds, and would hop in the shower at any point, just to get himself wet. He loved having the hot water pour all over him. Any more stories?

Sounds almost as a specie of wild cat, whom your momma managed to get fostered.
Perhaps the Fisher cat? They are sometimes fostered, and manage well to live as inside cats. Yes, they like water.
