This has been driving me nuts. There is a remake version of Gershwin's Summertime that I think came out in the early 90s. It has an urban beat to it. It tends to make airplay a couple of times a year on alternative/rock stations.
I heard it on the radio a couple of days ago and of course have no idea what radio station it was. Google is no help and Wikipedia states that there are an estimated 2,600 different versions recorded. So does anyone have any ideas?
I wish I could record my thoughts and stick somewhere for you to hear what I'm talking about. Now to really date myself: I used to work in a record store (LPs with a few CDs) and it drove me nuts when a customer would come in and describe a MTV video (back when MTV played Music Videos). Usually it was - what song is it where there is a white guy singing with 3 black guys behind him.
