Three of the fatalities in El Reno were veteran tornado researchers who were placing instruments to analyze tornados. Their work had contributed a lot to tornado prediction and early warning.

I saw that. They had been featured on the TV show "Storm Chasers.". There was another car used by other researchers that was wrecked, although they weren't hurt. Their video footage was all over the news.

I heard on TV this morning that they died when the tornado suddenly changed directions.

It's so sad that the same area is having to go through this again.

I just watched a tribute to them on the Weather Channel.  I used to watch Storm Chasers regularly so I was familiar with the name.  My heart breaks for their families.  A great loss for the storm chasing community, researchers and meteorologists as a whole.
