Interesting idea with the dishwasher for cat food cans!
I've been doing that for years. We recycle our cans, so I just rinse them out, then plop all the cans in the dishwasher and they're washed with our load of dishes at night. Rick says we probably have the cleanest cat food cans in town.
They have to be clean in order to be recycled or they won't be accepted. And I don't want to simply rinse them out and then put them in the recycling container, largely because of a potential ant/bug problem. I put peanut butter, mayo, and similar plastic containers in the top rack of the dishwasher, too, simply because I don't want to deal with cleaning them out....peanut butter jars are a bugger to clean and again, we recycle them. (It makes my GF squeamish when she comes to visit and sees me taking cat food cans out of the dishwasher, but hey, they're clean! And sanitized!

You did what you had to do Winchester. You can't relocate an infestation!
Nor were we going to. They needed to go....period.

So far, we are still ant-free. Rick will spray again Saturday morning around the outside of the house. That should be it.
