Emily (2 year old female) was taken to the vets on the 26th August because she was spending a lot of time running in and out of the tray, while she was in the tray she'd spend a while squatting with very little coming out. I rushed her to the vets who put her on Cystaid and Metacam - I think it was a 5 day course. He didn't think she had an infection, seemed healthy and happy other than the peeing issues and was eating and drinking fine. After a couple of days she seemed back to normal.
Forward to yesterday, for some reason I had a feeling things weren't right so got my OH to keep an eye on her. Again, she seemed to have difficulty peeing so managed to get her down to the vets for a last minute appointment. We saw a different vet this time who has put her back on the Cystaid and Metacam for a week then she's going in for a check up and vaccinations next Thurs. Once again, she's happy, eating and drinking fine. Her bladder was empty both times we went to the vet so no blockage. We got her back home and let her out of the carrier and she's peed in it, very bloody pee
. We phoned the vets straight away who said it can happen to cats with cystitis. There was a little more blood after she'd been in her tray later but since then I haven't seen any though she has been squatting in it for a while on and off today.
Now both vets said they think it might be behavioural though if it comes back a third time then we're going to take a urine sample. I havent had any fosters in for at least 3 months, nothing's changed except we move a desk from one room to another sometimes (vet asked if furniture has been moved). As for the cats themselves; I have 4 indoor cats with Jupey being top cat, he can be a bit of a swine with the others even though he also loves the girls, I'm making an effort to give him plenty of 'Jupey time' in the hopes he won't feel so insecure. I don't know if he is causing Emmy to have these UTIs but that's one thing that's running through my head. I bought a Feliway diffuser yesterday and am hoping that kicks in soon, I'm also looking into possibly getting them on Zyklene (I think it's called).
In terms of food and drink, they have 3 bowls of water and a water fountain - the fountain is really Emmy's as she loves it, I know she's drinking properly. She's on dry food - http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/d...utrition/14535 - This is fairly new so could maybe be causing the problem, I don't know.
They have 3 litter trays which has always been fine for them, they're all in a little box room, I'm trying to think of another place I could put one.
Basically I'm asking for anything I can change to get my girl sorted out and thanks for reading if you made it through the whole thing!
