I was able to trap my 2nd "under the deck" cat this morning. I do believe he is more stray than feral. He had only been coming at night and just a few times in the mornings. I tried 2 weeks ago to trap him, but my "helpers" aka Shadow and Stellar decided the trap had yummy food inside and they wanted in too!! So this morning "under the deck" kitty aka Cisco was waiting at the edge of the deck. DH and I quickly got the trap ready. I corralled my two "helpers" and fed them off to the side. I had to make one addition to the trap by adding his regular bowl of food and in he went. He is now in the garage waiting transport. I have to watch my nieces for an hour this morning so I will take him to the low cost vet around 10.
This is the 7th cat I have trapped in my yard. How sad that makes me. I trapped the 1st "under the deck" kitty aka Hampton exactly 2 months ago today. He was truly feral and the he must have been so traumatized that he never returned. That was the second cat I had trapped that never returned. For me that is the worst part. Some I have attachments to and others not so much, but when they don't return there is the worry and concern over their safety and health. I so wish there was an easier way.
