Since we now have two special needs cats, one diabetic, and one IBS, I'm going to transition all 4 to canned only.

But I have a hardcore dry food addict who will hardly touch dry food.

So what I'm wondering is, how bad is the gravy canned foods?
I'm to the point where I'm willing to feed those of she'll eat

Most of the gravy type foods contain wheat gluten and are high in carbs which is not good for any cat but particularly bad for the diabetic one. Which one is the dry food addict?

There are a few gravy type foods that aren't too bad (e.g. Nutro Natural line).

Our cats love the Nutro Natural minced chicken and sliced turkey -- they're grain-free and carrageenan-free, too. So is the chunky loaf chicken, which the cats also love.

They also eat some of Weruva's Cats in the Kitchen foods, which are shreds in jelly-like stuff. There's no carrageenan there, either, and the cats do like them, especially Fowl Ball.

Good luck, Dilly!

Have you tried the tips at www.catinfo.org--using toppers, mixing the dry and wet food, etc.? If you do use gravy food, I would try and make a slow transition to pate by mixing it in and slowly increasing the pate.

I have seen some Wellness and Blue Wilderness canned food for special needs cat in my local Petco, not sure if it's effective or not...

Is your dry food addict on a feeding schedule already? It really helped my cat to start eating canned when he knew he was only getting fed at breakfast and dinner.

Yes. That's what I've been trying to do but she tries to cover it up like it's something bad lol.
I thought hunger would help. But she keeps refusing or eats very little

I've heard two explanations of the burying behavior:

--They're trying to "bury" food that they think is good for later, much like a dog would bury a bone.

--The food has a strong aroma.

My kitty "buried" food new to her that she ate not but 15 minutes later.
