Hullo everyone,
How wonderful to find such a great site. Thanks Doreen (fadedblue) for telling me about it.
My DH and I are the owners (ha! As if anyone actually "owns" a cat) of 5 cats, Samedi (in whose honour I chose my username), Shadow, Max, Murray and Daisy. Interesting considering I am allergic to cats...
Samedi, a very pretty calico, was our first cat. She was left on a friend's doorstep, so we took her rather than have her go to the RSPCA and possible be given the green dream...
A few years later we noticed a dark grey tabby sneaking in to steal her food. We began putting food out for him and eventually, after quite a few months, he was tame enough to catch. So off to the vet to get him "fixed," but it was a little too late because he had impregnated another neighbourhood stray. We had assumed she (we called her Sally) belonged to another neighbour, but they were just leaving her food now and then. So we took her on too, and then her kittens, Murray, Daisy and Max.
[It is with some embarrassment I admit we though Max was a girl at first, and because "she" looked blonde, we called "her" Marilyn. As it became rather obvious that Marilyn was in fact very much male, we changed the name to Max.]
Sadly Sally disappeared a couple of years later. She had become fairly tame, so we just hope she somehow found herself another good home.
So now we just have our beloved Samedi (who still strongly resents the presence of the other cats), Shadow (now TOTALLY tame, and incredibly affectionate) and the "kittens" - now nearly 5 years old.
Well done if you bothered to read all of my saga.
Roz
