Piggybacking on my other cat cost question, what do y'all think of this? I paid for a 'kitten package' at our new (soon-to-be-ex) vet, which included a "significant discount" on neutering. Turns out their standard cost for neutering a male cat is $349 because it includes "necessary blood work", and with my "significant discount", it will be $149. $349 to neuter a male cat? Is this even remotely normal? If I recall, my old vet charged $104 without any "significant discount" applied, and the low-cost clinic was $40 plus about $25 for pain meds.
$349??? Really? And has anyone else encountered "necessary blood work" when getting an animal neutered?
