Incidentally, speaking of cats watching cats on TV, if you should ever run into a half-hour thing called "Tiger on the Tiles", put everything else aside and watch it. It's a Desmond Morris piece, I think it was on Nova or something like that on PBS, maybe as much as 15 years ago now, but well worth seeing again. It compares the domestic cat to its wild counterparts, using some interesting photography and computer effects. What sticks with me as much as anything, though, is that as I was watching it, Shasta was curled up in what seemed to be a fairly serious doze at the foot of the bed, and about halfway through, she bolted awake, and was rivetted to the screen for the rest of the program. Never did figure out what it was she heard.
For dog fans, there's a companion piece, called something like "The Wolf on your Hearth". It's also good, but not quite as successful as the cat one.
