I just got around to joining TCS today after hanging out and reading posts for several months.
I live in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. I'm retired and recently widowed- my husband died in 11/05. I have seven cats- six of which were adopted as strays after being born in or near my backyard. I found the seventh outside the office building where I used to work when I was leaving work. The cats are wonderful company for me.
Kolohe (Hawaiian for rascal) is my first cat. He is 9 years old, black and white and overweight. He's on a weight reduction diet and not happy about it. Stumper and Torty are littermates, Kolohe's half sisters and also nine years old- they are only three months apart in age. Obviously I was not able to capture the mom cat to have her spayed. Stumper is all black, bobtailed and on the same diet as her brother. She's not happy either. Torty, as the name indicates, is a tortoise shell. She's my sweet, gentle girl. Tiggy is eight years old and a tabby. He's also a sweet guy. Eric is eight years old and all black. Eric is on a permanent special diet after having urinary crystals a few years ago. Fluff is four years old and gray with long hair. His appearance is totally different from the others. I found him in my yard took him in when he was barely weaned and his mother apparently abandoned him or something happened to her. He knows who saved him and is a very loving guy. And then there's Palekana, the one I found outside the office building. She's eight years old and a tortoise shell. Even at her age she's much more hyper and active than the others. She's also a loving girl. so, that's my kitty family.
I'm looking forward to spending more time in the forums now that I'm a member. There's lots of good information here and good people.
