My cat came home 12 hours ago and has yet to use the bathroom. She has both ate and drank. I read somewhere that because they can't eat before major surgery and for a while afterward, it will throw the cat's bathroom habits out of wack. But is this too long?

If she doesn't go by noon tomorrow, I will call the vet. Just thought I could get some insight beforehand.

I think it can do. I know my vets won't let them go home after being spayed or neutered until they A. Use the litterbox and B. Eat something.

A quick phone call to your vet though will confirm things

Susan is right. I would not worry yet - 24 hours is not that uncommon. Often during surgery the vet will express the bladder, so the cat may not feel the need for quite a while. ANd if she has not eaten anything prior to surgery then it may be a while before she poops.

This is common (and I just noticed your post was from yesterday), so I am assuming your cat has used the litter box by now
