Being catheterized can cause temporary incontinence. Especially as the inflammation lessens (the urethra is more open). My guy would "leak" on pads and use his litter box. He did not regain control of his urination for about a month after being catheterized. He was catheterized for 5 days, and in really rough shape though, so it my not take yours as long, but like I said, the incontinence is possible.
As you mentioned though, at least the pee is coming out!!
