Hi all, just wanted to get some opinions while I do what I can to help this poor little girl.
Last night on our way home from her grandma's, my girlfriend and I almost hit a little black kitten in the middle of a busy road near her house. I stopped in time, but she just froze in the street and wouldn't move; when I got out to shoo her away, she ran right to me and started rubbing and circling. Well of course we couldn't just leave her there when she obviously had no idea how to deal with cars or roads or anything, so we took her back to my house and set her up in my room away from my two cats.
I can't decide whether this kitten is feral or lost... I've yet to see her use the litterbox so she slept in one of my cat carriers last night. She's obviously very social, but she's also quite skinny and has a few fleas and possibly some parasite bloat to her belly. The area where we found her is residential but also has a few undeveloped lots along the main road where a mama feral might have been raising kittens with help from animal loving neighbors...
Our plan is to see if she's microchipped, put up some posters where we found her, etc. I don't really know what else to do... The shelters around here have a pretty high kill rate so we want to keep this baby with us if at all possible until we can find her owner or a new home. Any further advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
