Pepcid never seemed to help my kitty. It is often really difficult to differentiate between irritable bowel and lymphoma My kitty had flares for six years before being diagnosed with irritable bowel and has been on a steroid for 5 years now. He had his first flare when he was only 18 months old and is prone to constipation rather than diarrhea which is probably why he wasn't properly diagnosed. He also had the vomiting and anorexia.

You can ask your vet about Cerenia or Zofran... that is pretty standard for treatment of IBD...

My guy started with the Cerenia--5 days on and 2 off....for the off days, he had Zofran twice a day...

That did wonders for him... along with the steroids...

He has IBD...and is just on the Pepcid now...along with the steroid.

I am wishing you so much luck with your buddy...My guy needed the endoscopic biopsy....The Ultrasound showed some thickening to the wall of the stomach. You are not able to tell IBD from lymphoma on an ultrasound....

That may be the next step...

He is booked for Thursday for the biopsy and the results should be in by hopefully Monday and then we can treat him. Because he doesn't drink water and is not eating much he will be getting a daily sub-q. Tonight will be day 4 of Cerenia so I will also check with the vet to see if I should skip it on Wednesday otherwise he will be dosed out and need to wait two days to reset before i can give him more.

He got Pepsin in the form of Famotidine last night and he has had it before and it typically doesn't seem to do much for him. He went and had an ultrasound done today but it hasn't really cleared anything up, he either has cancer or IBD. I got him from the pound and it was stated he had IBD and this was almost a year ago and he was sick before that time so if it is cancer it has been hanging around for a long time. The vet is compiling information and trying to see what the next steps should be to get to the bottom of this. I posted the ultrasound report in this thread...

I had thought the shelter had done the ultrasound already, seeing as how they diagnosed him as an IBD kitty.   If it is small cell lymphoma, it can be treated successfully. Small Cell is not nearly as aggressive as Medium or Large cell...Without a biopsy most vets and Internal medicine specialists will not prescribe Leukeran.

I see you are scheduled for the biopsy tomorrow, just wanted to send my strongest  healing vibes and best wishes for your little guy.
