I have read that cats really need a vertical space to climb. I would rather my kitten did not climb curtains so I want to get her a cat tree. The problem is that the only (and the best) place for the tree is right in the corner of my eating area in the kitchen, right by sliding glass doors. However, that area is fairly small so a tall tree with a large footprint would make it impossible to pull out chairs on one side of the table. If I was to get a tree with a smaller footprint, then the tree would also have to be much shorter so that it would not topple over. This presents a problem because a shorter, safer tree may not be enough to offer the climbing exercise that a cat needs.
Should I wait until I bring the kitten home and see what her personality is before spending big bucks on a tree?
What brand/type of cat tree would you recommend?
