My name is alison and I recently adopted two new(to me) kitties. I'll start from the beginning.
I took my (almost) 1 year old son to the SPCA to meet some cats and kittens. My original plan was to get a kitten or two. But after seeing how Isaac was way too rough for the tiny kittens we went over to see how he would react to the big kitties. I was immediately drawn to this great big orange Tom in the corner of the room named max. He was sooo affectionate but was in a kennel so Isaac couldn't touch him. On the way out to get someone to open the kennel for us we stopped at some o the un-caged kitties and Isaac was much more gentle. I guess their size made him far less likely to think they were toys haha.
So when we returned with an employee. I fell in love with this big orange kitty. He was so lovable and so cuddly and LOVED belly rubs! I fell in love! The girl went to check his admittance paper and came back an beamed, it said on his papers in great big letters that he LOVES KIDS. Isaac and I were on our way to see our new apartment so we had to leave. But not before filling out an adoption form.
Fast forward a few days. My mother was taking us in to pay our damage deposit on the apartment and after that I talked her into taking us out to the SPCA so we could visit max and tell them we got the apartment and see how long they'd keep them there for us.
When we found max in a different room he was in a larger kennel with another, even fatter, kitty. The first thing I saw was these big green eyes and her little pink nosey on her grey and white face. I asked "who is this?" immediately smitten, rubbing her little noggin. As she rolled over for me to rub her little belly, I wa told "this is Sally, max's sister, they have to stay together" and when I asked if they were a two for one special(haha) I found out tht I only had to pay one adoption fee!!!
I was so happy! These were our cats! So gentle and sweet and cuddly! The perfect match for our tiny family!
My mother tried to talk me into just one cat thinking I would have so much more work with 2. I looked around the shelter hen I went to pick them up but as soon as I came to their kennel I knew there was no way I was leaving without them. They came home with us and have been living here a week. Max is right at home and loves us both, him and Isaac are friends and they play together. By play I should say get into mischief. I went into the bathroom to find all the contents of the drawer on the floor by Isaac and max was in the drawer! Haha. So cute! When Isaac is sleeping max wants to snuggle me. He curls up in your arms like a baby and "grooms" you with his lil sand papar tongue! So sweet.
Sally is taking her time in warming up to us. She seems to like me but is quite wary of Isaac. She would never swat him. Just vacate the room haha. She seems to have dle bit dermatitis on her belly. Poor girl has barbered her belly hair down to. Fine fuzz! She is very affectionate too, loves belly rubs and let's me kiss her wittle pink nosey! Lol
They are both now on a diet, especially roll poly Sally who is being weaned off her temptations addiction! I discovered this when I relised this vocal girl was even more vocal in the kitchen. I bought a small bag to test my theory and I was quite right. The little old lady that had them clearly spoiled these kitties.
They were surrendered by a woman who's grandchildren were allergic and their mother said she had to get rid of the cats or they would no longer visit her. She was apparently very upset when she brought them in. I'm thinking that I may ask the SPCA if I may contact her and ask her about them and invite her for tea
So sorry for the long story but I'm quite verbose whether in talkin or writing hahaha.
I love these kitties so much. So happy I found the perfect felines for my lil family!
If I knew how to add photos from my iPhone I would! But I think they may be in my default albums :s
