So I was given syringe filled with buprenorphine for a tooth extraction and I sent it down the back of his throught . I was supposed to put it on the gum threw the cheek. My poor baby has been in pain for 3 days because I did it wrong. I wonder if he was receiving any pain relief at all?

Not much. Bupe is absorbed in the mouth. You can dose him right now instead of waiting for the next scheduled dose since he didn’t absorb very much from the back of the throat. You can also call the vet and ask if he may need an extra day or two for you to pick up. They usually give you just enough and say “use it up.”
