In my apt. complex I've seen at least three different stray cats. One isn't really stray I guess, my neighbor found her in Georgia before moving here and brought her along. She says she's working on turning her into an only indoor kitty since she'll be moving to the front of the complex soon and is worried about her getting hit.
The one above is pretty tame. I find her on my porch a lot and I'll sit out and give her cuddles and sometimes some cat treats. Tonight I put out a bowl of turkey and she gulfed that down like she was starving. Guess I'll start leaving a bowl out for her. Now, supposedly she had a litter when she was found. This startles me because this cat is TINY. Not just ridiculously thin, all around itty bitty. I'll probably start leaving out some kitten chow for her to see if that'll help put some weight on her. I'm just hoping my neighbor either gets her inside or gets her spayed before one of the neighborhood boys gets a hold of her. I'm not sure she could survive another litter.
One other stray, this GORGEOUS white and orange cat, comes and goes. He/She (haven't been able to tell just yet) was outside my apt. when I got home from work. So I sat down to see if I could get him/her to come to me. She/He came up, sniffed my hand, then walked a little ways away. Hopefully I'll have a chance to work with this one and maybe find him/her a home.
The last stray, a female calico (again, GORGEOUS) won't come anywhere near me. I have no idea where they are all hiding when I don't see them. It's not a big neighborhood at all, and there isn't much around here. The orange and white one looks pretty well fed, but the calico is kinda scrawny.
I know from past apt. complexes, most of the strays hung around the dumpster. Do you think that would be a start at finding them? Maybe lay a few bowls behind it and hope my apt. manager doesn't notice? Hopefully someday I'll be able to get these beauties to trust me so I can catch them and find them new homes. I've done it in the past where I used to live and those places were COVERED with strays and ferals. This spot only has a few, and most come and go.
On my next day off I'll see if I can find where they are all staying when not out roaming. In the mean time, here's a few pics of the scrawny one:
Oh, and some shots of the stray at work. A woman that works in the mall feeds her every morning and is now finally able to pet her. She's working on catching her and either taking her home or finding another home for her
