I need advice re: my parents' cat. He is two, indoor only, gets bored easily, and often uses my 80ish parents thinning skin as a play toy. He is tearing them to pieces.

We are anti declawing, so I'm looking at soft paws, but have questions.

1. How difficult are they to get on?

2. Will a vet put them on?

3. What is the best brand to buy?

4. Do they come in different sizes, and does that go by cat's weight?

If anyone has experience with these, please help!

Keeping the claws tipped and filed a bit works here.  Why and how are they getting clawed up ?

Soft claws go by weight.  You put them on using crazy glue.  I bought some read the instructions, had visions of a cat glued to me and didn't do it.  Vets will apply them and so will some grooming places.

Kittens Mom - the cat is playful and will claw my mom in what he thinks is play. She is 79 years old, her skin has thinned, and she bleeds pretty easily from this.

Handsome Kitty - thanks for your response re: size to get. My parents would be happy to pay their vet to do this. I just hope it's not real uncomfortable for the kitty.
