I have a 6-year-old 10lbs cat who has been urinating in her sleep for the past 1.5 years. I have a camera set up in my room so I have confirmed that this is happening while she is sleeping. This happens 99% of the time in my bed. This went from happening once a month to almost every day.
Samantha was diagnosed with IBD in November of 2014 through a colonoscopy. When i brought her home she had a PEE smell to her I never smelt before. Two days later she began the sleep peeing. At the time i thought one of the antibiotics or prednisone caused this. However, the sleep peeing continued and as of the past month it is getting worse and almost happening daily. Her IBD has been under control with Natural Balance Canned Venison, a probiotic, and MiraLax for a little over a year.
My vet is amazing but doesn't know the cause of it. He believes she has bed wetting or some type of incontinence. He has tested her urine 4-5 times, and has done blood work 3 times. Ruling out everything else I really am forced to believe that his has something to do with the colonoscopy. The fact that this is now happening almost every day is concerning to me. Has anyone had experience with anything similar? She is a very active loving cat. She looks healthy. She was throwing up about a month ago and tonight I'm starting the process of switching her over to a new food just in case for some reason the problem is with the product I'm feeding her. I don't want to take her to another vet before i can confirm someone can actually help. She pees in the cage, last week i brought her in and her paws were sweating. I've never even heard of that. I need to know what the best thing i can do to help her is. I feel extremely lost with all of this.
