Gilfre 1 of 6 kittens is constipated, he goes to the litter box & tries, meows lots but nothing comes out, anything I can do to help before booking a vets appointment ?
Phoning your vet and asking is never wrong. Or even visiting - it MAY be something more serious than just some occasional constipation...
I suppose the vet can also for example flush him in the behind, like they do with people sometimes....
So contacting vet IS my recommendation.
Otherwise, a couple of standard remedies, is conserved crushed pumkins (unflavored is best).
You can for example mix it with water and forcefeed some, about one spoon at a time, every two hours, till it works.
Some people try with food oil, but better yet is liquid paraffine food grade. Really effective. Used also by vets. The easiest way to get it for a non vet, is cat malt - used normally to help process swallowed cat fur. The point is, this cat malt is in solution of - yes, liquid paraffine! Or petroleum jelly as they say in USA. Liquid vaseline of food grade is another name.
