Also, contacted Japanese Vet and they said he doesn't need to come in unless he vomits more or stops eating.

I do not brush at all! I always assumed cats could groom themselves. Should I start?
Also bad news, he just threw up again moments ago. Same as before but no hairball. Just his food. He's eating again now.
Brushing him regularly could be a good idea. If he's long hair then you need to do almost daily. If he's short hair I think that once a week is enough, maybe a little more often when it's shedding season.
Furthermore, brushing your cat will develop a stronger relationship between you and him.

I fed my cat one can and a half daily, each can is 80 grams.
I always leave the open can outside the fridge and covered with a plastic lid.
The open can will be used and finished within the next 12 hours, so it is unlikely it gets bad in such a short time. I find that storing them in a fridge gives them a worse taste than leaving outside.

He went into the vet today and was de-wormed. No testing was done apart from temperature but he was also given fur-ball medication.
