Last October I bought myself one of those mini laptops. A month later I decided to get one of those sticks where I can access the internet anywhere.
I didn't want to get locked into a 3 year contract because I didn't know how much I would use it. So I bought the stick and signed up for 6 months.
As it turns out I was right. The novelty wore off after a month or so. So for the last 4 or 5 months I have been paying for something I haven't been using.
Today I called to cancel the plan and was told that they require 30 days notice. 30 days?! To turn off a switch?! If I don't pay my bill, they would turn it off immediately!
Anyway, I explained to the guy that I have been a loyal customer with them all of my adult life and have every service they offer with the exception of home alarm. And despite companies popping up with some pretty enticing plans, I have stuck with them.
The guy saw it my way and told me that since I am a long time loyal customer with a number of services with them, that he will waive the 30 day cancellation notice requirement.
So now my phone bill is $65.00 per month cheaper! Next I'm going to look at my cable package. I find myself watching certain channels frequently while many others not at all. But I'll bet you a cup of coffee that most of those channels I don't watch, are bundled into packages with channels that I do watch.
