Hey. I have a 10 month old himalayan, Larry, who is the sweetest kitten. Larry follows me everywhere, loves to cuddle, and sleeps with me. We brought home a 3 month old himalayan 4 days ago.
I have done lots of research prior to bringing home the new baby. The new kitten has his own room with toys, litter box, food/water and has been doing well. He's very friendly active and adjusting well. He is dying to get out of his room.
Our resident cat, Larry is not too fond of the kitten. I have been doing scent swapping and feedings at the kittens door. Both went well. I brought the new kitten into another room and let Larry into where the kitten has been staying. Larry hissed just upon entering the kittens room and left. Since scent swapping and feeding both cats at the same time with each on a opposite side of the door has gone well, I was surprised his reaction to just going into the room he hissed.
Larry has been sitting outside the kittens door just listening and seems ok doing this. Today the kitten and Larry were smacking each other's paws underneath the door. I'm afraid to let Larry see the kitten since he hissed at just his empty room. I don't want to stress out either one. Larry seems more withdrawn at times which isn't himself. The new kitten want a out of his room and I feel bad I can't let him out besides just quick exploring while I put Larry in another room. I just hope I am doing everything I can correctly so they both are comfortable.
Any opinions/suggestions/advice? I just let the two cats see each other through the door a little. Larry hissed a few times. I gave them both treats.
