Ginger is the sweet dilute calico that is supposed to fly out here in two days to her forever home with us. Eileen (eilcon) rescued her from the streets and is fostering her for us.
Yesterday, Ginger went in for her last vet check, and distemper booster. Today, Ginger is showing an adverse reaction to the distemper booster, including refusing food and a temperature of 105! Of course, Eileen took her straight to her trusted vet this morning, where they are keeping her for observation, giving her benedryl to bring down the fever and IV fluids so she doesn't dehydrate.
Dr. Chase told Eileen not to worry, that a reaction like this is pretty common. That's easy for a doctor to say when he sees this kind of thing all the time, but when it's a kitty you love it's much harder than that! Especially when you're 1000 miles away!!!
Could I ask for some healthy vibes for little Ginger, that she gets past this and is able to fly to me on Thursday?
