I am going to be calling the vet tomorrow being that its 1143 and i cant. But my new 6 month old kitten that i got a month ago has worms and I JUST FOUND OUT. Can she give worms to my male cat as well? and what does this do to the cats themselves? Can you test the cats? and my last question is how much does it cost to deworm them?

If its tapeworm (the most common) the live worms will look like squishy grains of rice and when they dry they look like sesame seeds. Do your cats have fleas? They get tapeworm by ingesting a flea. Treatment is simple, the vet will weigh the cat and give the right amount of meds usually in a tablet form and usually just one dose. Sometimes they'll have you give another dose 2 weeks later to make sure the worms are gone. The tapeworms themselves cant be passed from cat to cat but they usually recommend worming both cats if one has them. They could check a stool sample but they dont always show up in a sample. Usually all you have to do is describe the worms to them and they will give you the right meds. They are not dangerous or life threatening but they should be treated.

This information has been great, hope you will find it usefull. Usually for a first time infestation, your Dr will want to examine your kitty and obtain a stool sample to check for worms. I recommend that your other kitty be examined and treated, as well. You will often find that if one of your kittes has worms, the other will, as well. Surely your little ones are ever so spoiled and being taken wonderfully cared for with such love! Please do let us know what the Vet says!

That is great! If you lived a little closer to me I would recommend you to Pet Guards Clinic. It is a great little low cost clinic and dewormer is free. They give you both doses right then and you retreat the cat in 2 weeks.
