We're getting a foster kitten tomorrow....
I took Lily in for her shots, and they suckered me in! One of the staff members was talking to me, and ushered me into the pre-adoption room asking if I could foster a kitten and put this tiny little black thing in my hands. Of course my heart melted straight away and there was no way I could say no. She has no mother or siblings, and has been hand raised from birth, and is only 12 oz but is eating on her own and looking strong.
A kitten this small with no mother would normally be PTS, but since someone had worked so hard to keep it alive, and it was doing so well they couldn't bear to put it down. All the other regular fosterers already have litters of kittens, and no rescue group could take her, so if I didn't take her, her outlook would not be good!
So I'll pick her up tomorrow morning before work, settle her in at home, then leave her in a large crate all day to let her get used to her surroundings. She'll probably be crated all day when we have her, and we'll play with her at nights and in the mornings. Ideally I'd like to spend more time with her, but what she gets with me is better than the alternative!
